Jack Mortellaro - Getting In Shape

Jack Mortellaro is a construction professional. He started Diamond Condition Properties when he was twenty years old and has been running it ever since. He also works as a leadman in the Film and TV industry.
“I was going to be a physical therapist,” he says today, thinking back to the year’s right after he completed his education. “I then got certified as a personal trainer from AFTA. I did it on the side for a few years.”
AFTA is the American Fitness Training of Athletics. Its Fitness Director, Chad Barnhart, says that the value of personal trainers is that the provide guidance to people who are serious about getting in shape and in living a healthy lifestyle. “The problems are that the industry only has one trainer to every ten thousand people who desperately need the guidance,” he says.

Jack Mortellaro is, in many ways, a model of the type of person who becomes a personal trainer. He has a passion for being fit and healthy, and for leading an active life. A personal trainer, by definition, has the knowledge and skills needed for designing safe and effective exercise and fitness programs for clients. Jack Mortellaro - A Tough Upbringing

Jack Mortellaro has been running Diamond Condition Properties since he was twenty years old, and says that with his years of experience he can do just about anything when it comes to building and construction. “I have worked on and helped flip hundreds of houses. I have worked on many renovations and flips for myself.”

He has been working at one job or another since he was about thirteen years old, when he got a job working in a deli. After that he got a job with a landscaping company, and was so impressive to his supervisors that by the time he was seventeen, he was supervising his own crew and driving one of the company trucks.

“I had a tough upbringing,” he says today. He says his father was the most stressed-out person he’s ever known, and was also very strict with him and his five sisters. “My mom would be home all day with the kids. My father would be at work all day and night.” Eventually, though, it was his father who raised him and his siblings. It was hard work, and without many rewards. “I give him props because he never left us.”

Jack Mortellaro says he grew up with the sense that he was never good enough, even though he was active in school sports and was player on the lacrosse and football teams in high school. “I was a fighter though,” he says. “I think never being good enough gave me that drive to always better myself in life.”

Jack Mortellaro - Reiki Master

Jack Mortellaro is the owner of a construction company in New York, and a studio mechanic who has worked in film and TV for nearly twenty years. He says that one of the things he most enjoys about construction is that he has the ability to take a house that others have given up on, and fix it up into something desirable once again.

He also has wide-ranging interests that extend far beyond any construction site. “I have a passion for natural healing,” he says. “I am a certified Reiki master.”

Reiki has been defined as a healing energy that consists of life force energy. The word is comprised of two Japanese words, Rei and Ki. It’s a little tricky to translate Japanese into English, so these are just rough approximations. With that in mind, Rei loosely means a higher intelligence, while Ki refers to the intangible energy that animates living things. So Reiki, in turn, means a non-physical healing energy that is spiritually guided.

A principle of Reiki is that the mind exists throughout the entire body. In fact, it is believed to exist outside of the body, in a field called the aura. So the mind and body, according to this, are so closely related that they are essentially inseparable. By extension, the negative thoughts that we have can collect in different places in the body and its aura. And when that happens, Ki – that energy or life force – is restricted in its flow, which can lead to illness.

Jack is a master of guided meditations and hypnosis. “It is pretty amazing what you can uncover when you enter your subconscious mind. They say our decisions in our life are made from our sub conscious mind which is put together from our life experiences and knowledge of how we think things are. We then communicate with our conscious mind to then give an answer or decision”.

Jack recommends “The inner temple of Witchcraft” by Christopher Penczak. “ Don’t be fooled by the name. It’s just guided meditations. It doesn’t have anything to do with Witchcraft I promise”.

Jack Mortellaro says our internal communication is everything. He says that we as humans are so hard on ourselves. He says you should love yourself and others. Dr. Masaru did an experiment. He would hold water in his hands and say a word like “I hate you or I love you” He would then look at the molecules under a microscope and the water molecules would change shape and form something beautiful or horrible depending on the positive or negative word. There is a saying from this “If a thought can change the water molecule to this extend just by saying the word, image what we are doing to ourselves when we are speaking negative to ourselves”.

Jack Mortellaro - Single Family Dwellings, multiple units and commercial spaces

Jack Mortellaro has devoted many years of his life to the construction industry. He formed his own company, called Diamond Condition Properties, when he was twenty years old, and years later the company is still going strong.

“I fix houses up and sell them,” he says. “I do all phases of construction.”

Jack used to own multiple houses as rentals.  His advice is “Owning a property is an amazing way to learn construction.  If you have the time you can learn just about anything now a day.”  “ For people who don’t have a background in construction the process of flipping can be confusing and intimidating.

Jack has helped construct stores as well.  He used to be partners in a smoothie chain.  He helped build these stores within the four walls.

Jack Mortellaro says that since he started his construction company he has been involved in hundreds of projects from renovating existing homes to buying and flipping homes. “I can do anything, construction-wise,” he says.
