Jack Mortellaro - Why You Need to Have a Plan for Your Life

Jack Mortellaro is a successful investor from Long Island who has learned a lot about psychology, planning and achieving goals.

The problem with not having a plan in life that helps you grow and learn is that if you don’t have a plan, someone else always does.

The mission of some very smart marketers that work for businesses big and small is to influence what you link to pain and pleasure. Advertisers have a very clear understanding of what drives people, which is why many companies and stores are true experts in how they lay out merchandise, what music they play, how their stores smell, and more. Bright or dim colors, rapid changes of images, and other elements can help us get into various emotional states in which we link pleasure and feelings to certain products. Several decades ago, Pepsi used this strategy brilliantly by observing how Michael Jackson made people feel good with his dancing, body, voice, and gestures. They then embarked on a journey of linking these feelings with their products. Pepsi used Michael Jackson to get people into a certain emotional state. Then they flashed their product to link it with that pleasurable state.

All of these examples are based on the simple principles of pain and pleasure. They link products to pleasurable sensations. The idea that they try to convey is that if you buy the products, you will achieve your goals and live your fantasies.  This force is the same force that shapes all human actions. If you want to shape your own behaviors, you can take control of them on your own just like Jack Mortellaro controls his behaviors. If you don’t, you will fall under the influence of those who want to condition you to behave in the way that they want.
